Certain ages are seen as milestones in our lives and people view them either with anticipation or dread. Forty is generally seen as the onset of middle age while fifty and sixty are on the path to retirement and old age. After that, you're probably just relieved to be still around to see the next milestone.
Getting to thirty is often seen as the end of the youthful years, a time to be more mature and responsible. It's an age that women in particular often don't look forward to with any relish. It's the time when crow's feet and wrinkles start to show themselves, when the first grey hairs start to appear, when parts of the body begin to sag imperceptibly and everything starts to go south.
Women over thirty may have lost the first flush of youth and may be starting to show their age a little. However, it is an age that has many benefits, especially for us men, which probably far outweigh the odd disadvantages.
When women get to thirty, they've lived life a little, had experiences and know what life is about. As a result, they are realistic about life and don't expect too much too quickly. They don't expect everything to happen straightaway and are prepared to wait, to take a more measured and relaxed approach.
Once women get out of their twenties, some of the frantic peer pressures start to ease. They are likely to have established a way of life that they are happy with and are used to, so are not constantly looking for some meaning in their life. Unlike fifty or so years ago, women aren't expected to be married with children by the time they hit thirty. A single woman with a career path and an independent lifestyle is not seen as unusual.
Although thirty plus women realise they're getting older and the signs are starting to show, they're mostly not too concerned and usually know how to deal with it. They've learned how to make the most of what they've got and, as a result, often look stunning. And because they've matured, they generally look better, more stylish, than women much younger than them.
As women get older, they're often, but not always, more understanding. They've had experiences and they know things don't always work out as they should do, so they tend to be more laid back and don't expect immediate results. If things don't go according to plan, it's just too bad and on to the next one.
Women over thirty tend to be more graceful and more at ease with themselves. They've lived, got the lines to show for it and tend to be more interesting than their younger counterparts as a result.
